Postscript For Mac

Posted on  by

Ghostscript is an interpreter for the PostScript® language and PDF files. It is available under either the GNU GPL Affero license or licensed for commercial use from Artifex Software, Inc. It has been under active development for over 30 years and has been ported to several different systems during this time.Ghostscript consists of a PostScript interpreter layer and a graphics library.

There are a family of other products, including GhostPCL, GhostPDF, and GhostXPS that are built upon the same graphics library. Between them, this family of products offers native rendering of all major page description languages. Our latest product, GhostPDL, pulls all these languages into a single executable.

Full descriptions of these products can be found here.

Postscript Viewer by Rampant Logic is a piece of software that will let you open and view PostScript files. Even though Postscript Viewer for Mac is not available for download, there are plenty of alternative Mac apps to view Postscript files. Here is a list of alternatives to Postscript Viewer for Mac.

In addition to rendering to raster formats, Ghostscript offers high-level conversion through our vector output devices.

Written entirely in C, Ghostscript runs on various embedded operating systems and platforms including Windows, macOS, the wide variety of Unix and Unix-like platforms, and VMS systems.

Hello again, as posted recently hv a problem with adobe printer's postscript driver (ppd),In Indesign cs4 It shows ppd is missing while making Print File(.ps), pls suggest how to install ppd again, i tried to install ppd driver downloaded from adobe website, but it fails to install. A PPD file (PostScript Printer Description file) customizes the behavior of the driver for your specific PostScript printer. It contains information about the output device, including printer-resident fonts, available media sizes and orientation, optimized screen frequencies, screen angles, resolution, and color output capabilities.

Current Release

The current Ghostscript release 9.53.3 can be downloaded here.

NEW – GhostPDL OCR Devices

Comments

This PPD file based on Postscript is made for Linux/UNIX environment. PostScript printers are natively supported in Linux and UNIX environments (including Chrome OS), so you only need this PPD file for your printer, no driver executables, to get access to all printing functionality. Especially this PPD file supports some advanced printer features like Locked Print, Document Server, User Code… Note that although the printers are PostScript printers this PPD file needs foomatic-rip. Please see the Ricoh FAQs for more details.

Mac

Note that these printers work, like all other PostScript printers, with generic PostScript PPD files, but then you will not get access to all the printer-specific functionality.
